They are widely scattered over an area of 108.78 sq km extending for about 200-500 km southwest of the Kerala coast. this island in the north is known as Amendevi<\/em> \u00a0Island while those souths of this latitude are called Cannanore <\/em>islands. Their topography is flat and relief features such as hills streams, valleys, etc. are conspicuous by their absence. Shallow lagoons are seen on their western side while on the eastern seaboard, the slopes are steeper.<\/p>\n
